Installing Soundflower on modern macOS versions can be a little complicated as kernel extensions need now to be given permissions before being loaded for the first time. So the Soundflower installer will error out on macOS High Sierra and Mojave. But this is easy to fix. Overview Soundflower is a OS X system extension that allows applications to pass audio to other applications. Soundflower is easy to use, it simply presents itself as an audio device, allowing any audio application to send and receive audio with no other support needed. Soundflower is free, open-source, and runs on Mac Intel and PPC computers.
I can't find any reference to soundflower in any apps.(Audacity, Audio Hijack(not Pro), iTunes) Cycling'74 sent me the below but I'm not confident about mucking around with code. Does it look OK to you? Thanks for your help -
If you are having difficulty removing Soundflower, open up a terminal and type:
ls /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext
if you see--
ls: /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext: No such file or directory
then soundflower is not on the system! You may need to restart just to make sure all applications do not still think it is loaded.
but if you see--

then soundflower is still installed.
Please type:
sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext
[ you will have to enter your admin password ]
sometimes the unloading may fail and you need to do the command again one or two times [ type uparrow, return ]
once the unload is successful, then you can blow away soundflower by typing:
sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext
Once again, you will need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

After SoundFlower is installed successfully, restart your Mac computer to refresh all controls. Then go to system preferences and visit the sound tab.
